6th March 2010 ( Saturday)
Woke up with a headache. Sent Valerie to AJC and then squeeze juices for all and did some gardening. Shandy called from HK to allay my fears and concerns as everyone is behind us with prayer support. She reminded us to put on a mask when we are on the plane. OUR MAIN PRAYER REQUEST: A remission and then a cure.
Lim Shong and Joyce visited in the afternoon and Maggie bought cookies( to bring for our journey) and gingko nut soup for us. In the evening, his mother, Kim Han, Winnie, Karen, Teck and Clarissa came and it ended like CNYwith LG getting ang-pows!The amount is immaterial but the strength and support of the Lim clan is more overwhelming than the Tsunami that hit Penang many years ago.5th March 2010 ( Friday)
It is a very very busy day in school, rushing to finish the day's work and planning for lesson coverage for next week. Found time to do the internet check-in for the 3 of us. Pastor George asked for prayer request:We want to give thanks that all preparation to go Kunming has been a breeze and we would like to pray for journey mercy and good response to alternative strategy as we journey into unfamiliar territory that the Lord will be with LG every step of the way as we trust in his lead and guidance to provide. I am crying out every hour that he will hear us and I am holding on to his promise that I will be a woman who will be able to laugh at the days ahead. I think this is too selfish. Now I wish to be greedy and ask that L G and I will be able to laugh at the days ahead.
6th uncle was informed and he offered to go to Kunming to take care LG should LG need to stay there for a longer period.I am really grateful.About 8 pm , the Singams came for a visit and even gave LG a good luck gift for speedy recovery. How thoughtful of them!We are indeed blessed to have so many people around us who cared from friends in the church to colleagues in the school and Navy.
4th March 2010 ( Thursday)
School has granted me 5 days of UPA leave next week.Inspite of all the hustle and bustle, there is a certain calmness as I slept well last night. His bosses Alphonsus Chua and Soon Chin Boon visited us and we had a pleasant and gentle conversation. Corrine ( Ben's wife) confirmed that we will be travelling on Sunday M912 to Kunming by Silkair. My Danzbuddies( Ivy, Soon Mee and Maggie) also came to visit.Soon Mee gave us some practical advice on what Kunming will be like. LS and Peter delivered the Reminb. LB sent me an sms on her devotion ---"We may not understand why we must go " another way" but God does, and He never makes a mistake. We should be ready to follow. U are in my prayer. Be strong n of good courage."-- It was indeed a comforting message.
3rd March 2010 ( Wednesday)
Only manage to sleep 3 hours fitfully.Discharged today at 2 pm. Ben( LG's brother 5) called from china and kindly assured me all will be ok and he will bear LG's expenses. The doctor's daughter also spoke to me and asked about his condition and questions regarding lifestyle and symptons. Strictly no meat, no seafood--- eat only plant protein, cereal , fruits and nuts, walnuts etc diet--- sleep early , refrain from watching TV, listen to music, no depression, no worry, relax, go for walks--THERE IS HOPE! For those of you strong in chinese, you might want to visit http://www.zzdyyw.com/ to read up and perhaps let me know.
Pastor Kien Seng visited in the late afternoon and he had to double back as LG was sleeping and I was out collecting porridge from mother and faxing the pet scan result to LG's sister for translation to chinese for the China doctor.Simultaneously there were calls from Ben ( I think he called more than 10x the whole of today)who has consulted some peole using LG's birth hour and he felt that I should accompany LG . Pastor KS walked me(us) through the process of decision -making. A flurry of sms es and phone calls to various people in th midst of preparing dinner , withdrawing money for LS to change and fetching Valerie from AJC. Pastor KS had prayed that God will pave the way for us and it is happening-- there were many things I had to cancel or handover from this Saturday till next week.Applying for UPA leave, Queen's landscape meeting, church library duty, facial appointments, lesson cover for one week, holiday assignments on acelearning, interclass noticeboard cum classroom improvement competition, etc. Spoke to LS briefly and asked for prayer support and most of all LG will be WELL in all aspect as we journey into the unknown, the Lord will be there with us all the way.
2nd March 2010 ( Tuesday)
LG's father was in A & E, ( lung infection- possibly pneumonia) since last night and he only got a bed at 9 pm today after 24 hours! The petscan results was not favourable. The tumor is resistant to the last few cycles of chemo and new ones have appeared. Dr Lim spoke to us and we were in shock. He felt that there is no need to carry on the current regime of drugs as they have been proven not to be effective. He Will be discharged tomorrow so that we can decide on the 2 strategies suggested--- namely extremely high dosage of chemo where the the quality of life will be low as a result of the side effects or oral medication to manage the disease on an outpatient setting where there will be some quality of life. There is a tentative plan to fly LG ( with his sister) to Kunming for a holiday and A second opinion---- we are praying for direction and guidance, strength and faith and MERCY!!!!
